Out Of Office just released ‘ The New Retail Reality’ for the Provence of Overijssel. A vision and Trend Research on the future of retail: What are the product combinations, business models, and inline services you can offer to give your consumer the WOW effect and stay relevant now and in the future?

For this project we worked with a great number of talented, visual thinking and future positive researchers, photographers, filmmakers, architects and Maaike Holvast was one of these people.

Maaike’s has always been fascinated by the way people use style and popular culture to construct and tell  visual stories about themselves. After studying Fashion-management at AMFI and  Fashion-styling at Artemis, she worked for many years  as a stylist, teacher, journalist, brand consultant and researcher in her native Amsterdam. The thing that really pushed her into the documentary appraoch off fashion was her work for street-style magazine CODE, for which she wrote the concept and held the position off  fashion editor.   To furher explore, understand  and document every day visual stories Maaike moved to New York City in the fall off 2009  to study documentary film.

After graduating from New York Film Academy in the fall of 2010  Maaike made a series of short documentary portraits called ‘New York Style Stories’ which were programmed online with Limboland.tv.  The series played with the fascination for street style, people watching and the idea that we all ‘brand’ ourselves in a certain way.  For Out Of Office she made a documentary on ‘Collaborative Consumption.’ This is a documentary on the rise and emergence of co-ops as a result of three developments.
