Mirte van Laarhoven is currently finishing her study Architectural Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. For this she is studying on how green spaces can improve the urban living environment and what there can be learned form the innovative examples in New York City.

She worked with Out Of Office on their project ‘ The New Retail Reality’ for the Provence of Overijssel. A vision and Trend Research on the future of retail: What are the product combinations, business models, and inline services you can offer to give your consumer the WOW effect and stay relevant now and in the future?

Mirte’s interest for nature and the city plays a recurrent role throughout her life and study. Next to the Gerrit Rietveld academy she studied at Pratt Institutes School of Architecture, NYC, during an exchange semester (2010). Mirte worked as an architectural researcher for the company Cities, where she was involved in the project Farming The City that looks into agricultural projects and
possibilities within Amsterdam. Also she did an inspiring internship at Kossmann.dejong exhibition architecture, which is known for their narrative designs. After her graduation she would like to start her own architectural business, after first gaining some more work experience and maybe continuing her study with a master program. Who knows in Tokyo, London or New York.
